I Don't Have Time (Time Management 101)

Thoughts on Time Management
Time Is Money!

Adage 1: Time is What We Want Most, but What We  Use Worst.

Adage 2: Time Invested in One Area, is Time Taken Away From Another.

Adage 3: Take Your Time, But Hurry Up!

Adage 4: Time is Money

Everyday we use words like schedule, calendar, appointment, day, date, minute, month, hour, year.  And you know what? It's true. We are obsessed with time; too much time on our hands, the lack of time, not enough time, where did the time go? I don't have enough time!

We Are Obsessed With Time

Fact: There are 24 hours in each day and we ALL have the same 24 hours.
Fact:  You will not have time until you MAKE time or TAKE time.
Fact:  Time Waits for No Man.

So What Do We Do?

We use the tools that are available to us and we view time as an entity we cannot control but we can work within it's confines. We Re-Think how we view and use time. Can we agree that time is a commodity that we diligently waste? Well, it's easier to waste time than to use it wisely. That's why most people are glued to one screen or another, following, liking, linking, replying, "at"-ing (@), hashtagging (#), watching, listening ... Whew! No wonder we are tired at the end of the day. Does anyone take time to interact with another human being (in person) anymore? That's the million dollar (area) question. Because, Mary Kay (Direct Sales) is a people to people business. And how are you going to do business? One bit of time at a time.

Consider This

No Time is Wasted if You Invest it Wisely. How do we do that? Well, you efficiently use time in the bites, bits and blocks of time you have available. I'm going to make a few assumptions here. We are all using some form of calendar, date book or planner. We use a Weekly Plan Sheet. We all are human. And as such we all make mistakes and we all have bad habits we need to substitute with good habits.

No matter what type of day to day calendar you keep, there are certain blocks of time which are non-negotiable. Those blocks of time are usually for work, church, children or sleep. After looking at your calendar with those times blocked off you will see patterns of time which are usable for your business. Let's Figure out how to use your un-used time wisely.

The only way to Make Time
Is if you Plan Your Time Wisely!
Make Time

Blocks or time are usually 2-3 hours of time where you can schedule in your selling appointments. You may only have one or you may be able to find three or more. These blocks of time are where you can do the most good for your business.

Bits of time are usually 20 -30 minutes. These odd bits of time are good for making re-order calls, follow-up calls or small "Look What's New" demonstrations. Take advantage of this time because you never know who needs to hear from you and who would order if you just called.

Bites of time are those 5 - 10 minutes where you can Write that "Thank You" or "Thinking of You: post cards to your hostesses, clients you have not heard from in a while or a "How are You " call or two is possible as well. Do you think you could pass out 2-3 Gardening Gifts (business card, sample and a piece or candy)  in the 3 feet around you while you are at the grocery store or WalMart?

Moments of time are those very small amounts of time (usually a minute or two)  where you can catch your breath or say a positive affirmation or recite your most favorite Bible verse. Phew. These are your personal "feel better", self rejuvenation, "I Got This" times of day.

I Leave You With This; Time is what you make it. You will not lose time if you use your time wisely. You will be busy, but you will not miss those special times with your family if you consider scheduling your time throughout your day.
