The Holiday Dollars are out there
What are you going to do to get
your share?

And They're Off
Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Safe At Home Sunday (we can only assume that that means we are watching QVC and HSN or thumbing through all the catalogs that have come in the mail, and telephoning in orders), Cyber Monday, Mop Up Tuesday... All those named and un-named shopping days leading from Thanksgiving afternoon and leading up to Christmas Eve. That's a lot of retail and sales. So what do you do as a direct sales / party plan consultant? You Join in. You make sure you have the infrastructure to do business.
What Infrastructure?!
Website: Every direct sales/ party plan consultant should have their companies replicated website. Its a must. How else can your customers buy if they want to be online? Also, this is a great way to except credit cards.
Facebook: Hey, I here Facebook parties are in and you should take advantage of the online social setting. You have the products (if you are in Mary Kay and you don't want to "sell from an empty wagon") and you have the ability to post product graphics (pictures). Why not have hourly sales of certain highlighted products.
Catalog: Hey if you don't have a stack of catalogs or flyers highlighting certain products what are you doing in business? Use this tool as you are out and about. And use stickers from Jenny B to help you.
Flyers: You have a computer and printer. Why not use your computer skills and imagination to generate a flyer to highlight products you have or recommend. At this time of year, there are always flyers on directors websites that you can "grab" and print.
Business Card: You are your best advocate in your business. Use your business card everywhere. And don't forget to give out a sample as well.
As a "small" business person without a brick and mortar building (except for maybe your house or apartment), you HAVE to be creative in order to compete with the big boys for those holiday dollars. But you know what? You have something that the big boys don't have. You have a big smile and you can offer the "Personal Experience" and your customers have the opportunity to "Try, before they buy". So, get out there and enjoy this time of year.
