Have you ever struggled with starting over; perhaps
thinking it appears as if you are standing still of moving backward? Perhaps
you have the feeling of failure or resignation? Guess What. You are not alone.
Even with your self recriminations and emotional baggage — (the feeling of not
being enough or having enough or the problem is all your fault), from time to
time having the choice to B.E.G.I.N. Again is the best option and can be your
best friend.
Where Are You (Now)?
Where-ever
you go, there you are — or so the proverb says. You can’t escape. You
are where you are. Try not to feel bad about it and don’t apologize for
it. Because when you do, you affirm that you’re not where you want to be or
where you feel you should be. With negative affirmations like that, you
only encourage yourself to stay in the same place, doing the same things
without an end in sight. That’s mentally
fatiguing.
Here’s the thing, if you want to empower yourself, you need
to nurture yourself. So, if you want to change your experience, start by openly
embracing and acknowledging where you are, no matter where that may be.
The fact that there’s frustration regarding where you are signifies that
there’s desire underneath it. Let’s use that desire and create a new map
of your reality.
Let’s B.E.G.I.N.:
B
Breathe. When
you breathe, you’re taking inventory and becoming present, in the moment.
Focusing on your breath allows you to understand and be connected to what is.
When you become aware of what is, you can embrace it and accept it. When
you are in the moment, you sever your connections to future fear and past pain.
E
Envision. Once
you are connected to where you are now, take a moment to envision where you
want to go. Don’t just imagine the finish line, you’ve got to passionately
connect to the outcome you desire, as well. Give yourself permission to
dream joyfully, like you did when you were a child – before you knew or felt
any fear or failure. Visualize the dreams you love, and bring you excitement.
Consider what you are willing to fight for, despite any fears. Visualize
the emotions you might experience when you achieve your dream., Tap into those
feelings so you can use them to help you push through any negative emotions.
G
Goals. Set your
goals based on your dreams and desires. When you let your head set your
goals with the hope that you will be inspired, you will be disappointed.
Your heart is what fuels your ability to go after your goals. When you get
clear on your goals, you will create
action plans to help you achieve them.
I
Invite.
Invite people to join you in your journey. You will only achieve your
goals when you get the support you need from others. Whether you need a
coach, a mentor, an accountability partner or a friend to have fun with along
the way, as a support system, you’ve got to invite people to play with you and
work with you, too! While the dream may be yours, you should not try to
achieve it alone. Inviting others to join you on your journey will make it
easier and more enjoyable.
N
Nurture.
When you plant a garden, you’ve got to continue watering the seeds if you want
them to grow. You’ve got to give them the nourishment they need.
Just like those plants, you need to nurture yourself to keep developing.
Even if you’ve invited others to join you, your nourishment begins from
within. Appreciate yourself and be proud of yourself, regardless of the
results. Love yourself unconditionally, every moment of every day.
